I am 5 years old. My birthday was August ninth. My name is Jospeh: J-o-s-e-p-h. I can spell my name.  I am in kindergarten, I do homeshooling at home. I do lesson everyday and am learning to read. I love doing my lessons. I like to play games: computer games, TV games, card games, board games, all kinds of games. I ride my bike at the park and I wear my helmet when I ride my bike, just like daddy does.
I always like to play with my bothers. We wrestle on the floor, play hide-n-seek, build with Kid K'Nex and legos, play with trains, draw and color. We play outside a lot, but now it is raining more, and it is muddy in our backyard. The leaves are fun to play in too. We throw them up in the air, and jump on them.

I finally know the ABC song, it is my favorite song and I sing it all the time. I also like to count just about everything, I even know numbers 1-9 when I see them. Tomorrow we are going to the California Railroad Museum to see Thomas the Tank Engine that is coming to town. I will let you know fun it is later.

I have been learning a lot lately.  I can count and read numbers up to 10, and am starting to learn my ABC's.  I get to do special things after Matthew goes to bed: I play board games like Candy Land and Memory, and Putt Putt on the computer. I get to play with Play-Doh or draw with markers.
I am always telling people that I am 3 years old, even to people I don't know. I also tell them that I have 2 brothers: Matthew and Adam. I like listening to my blue tape in the van. It has all kinds of music including Old MacDonald and Ring Around The Posey on it. I now have a big tall bed, not just a mattress on the floor, but Matthew is still in his little bed (crib) and Adam is in a little bed too (crib). I wear big-boy underwear now, but I still wear a diaper when I go to bed.

August 8th was my 3rd birthday.  I didn't have a big party like Mom wanted, but just had cake and ice cream at Mom and Dad's friend's house.  I got lots of nice things including clothes, books, puzzles, and bristle blocks.  Matthew helped me open all of my presents, and that was OK.
The first part of July my grandma and grandpa came to see us from Texas.  We had lots of fun playing with my Thomas train set, but after I showed Grandpa how to put it together, he played with it more than me (even when I was asleep).  We went to the toy store and they got me some new track and 2 new trains: Toad and Toby.  I was sad when they left; I wanted to go on the plane with them.
Later in July I finally got to go on an airplane.  We went to Grandma's house in Massachusetts.  I saw my cousins Abigail and Conner and all my aunts and uncles.  It was really fun at the beach where I got to see the ocean and play in the sand.  Dad and I jumped a lot of waves too.  I really liked Lucy (Uncle Oliver's and Aunt Julie's great big dog) and Sasha (Grandma's cat).  I don't think Matthew liked them though because he would always scream when he saw them; I think they had too much fur.
Just on Saturday I went to a birthday party for Justin, and he had a pony there for us to ride.  I got to ride the pony 2 times, but he went home after that.  I was real fun, and was bouncy when I rode him.
I use the potty now all by myself.  I even wear underwear when I take a nap and I wake up all dry.  I still wear a pull-up when I go to bed at night.  I don't know when I will wear underwear at night.
I can finally ride my tricycle all by my self and make it go with my feet.  So far I only ride in the garage, but Mom says we can take it to a park sometime.  I want to show my friends my bike.

It has been a while, but I will try to catch you up on things.  I am almost 3 years old.  I really like playing outside, playing with my trains, and playing with my brother, Matthew.  He is not quite walking around, but he crawls real fast and can walk along the furniture and walls.  We play a lot together, laughing and rolling around on the floor.  The weather is real nice now, but sometimes Mom won't let me go outside because it is too hot.  But lately we have been going for walks at night with our new double jogger stroller.  Mom and Dad says it is easier for them to push, and I also get to sit next to Matthew.  On our walks, we walk through a tunnel and by a train track, and sometimes we even see a train go by.  I like to wave at the engineer in the train.
I am starting to go potty in the toilet now, when I want to.  Mom talks about potty-training soon, I am not sure what that means.  Mom keeps talking about a baby in her tummy, and today I heard its heart beat.  The baby usually is just sleeping, but I like to wake it up by pushing on Mommy's tummy.
We went to see a fire truck yesterday at the fire station with a bunch of my friends and their moms.  They were really big and bright yellow.  (As soon as we get the pictures, we will post them.)  The fireman showed us where they live, sleep, and watch TV.  I got to sit in the big fire truck and move the steering wheel.  Wow!  Before we left, he turned on the light on the fire truck, they were red.

I went to my first Christmas party last Saturday. It was at a gymnastics place, and I got to run all over and jump on the soft toys. They fed us pizza, and now I think pizza is one of my favorite foods. This big guy in a red suit came in making a lot of noise. My mom and dad tried to get me to sit on his lap for a picture, but I refused (and cried). Who was this strange man, and what was he doing holding my brother (who was also screaming)? I got a present though, it was a book with Pooh and Tigger. Presents are always great, even from a scary man. I saw the scary man again last night. A loud fire truck drove past our house pulling a trailer with him on it. I was not sure what to make of all this, but a nice lady gave me a candy cane and the lights were pretty cool.

Grandma Moniz just left after a great few days of fun. Just her and I walked to the park twice, even though it was in the forties outside. The second time we went, I fell on the way there and hit my head on the sidewalk pretty hard. I only cried for a minute, but when grandma asked if I wanted to go back home or go to the park, of course I wanted to go to the park. I had as much fun as I could, but it had rained the night before, and the slides were still wet. Mom seemed a bit surprised to see me when I got home, I was wet, cold, and had a huge mark on my forehead the size of a quarter. But I am tough, I can handle it!
The other day I discovered the great tasting flavor of toothpaste, but my mom caught me with my fingers and face covered with toothpaste. I haven't been able to reach the tube since. I am also counting now, and I know a few of my ABC's.

Well, it is Halloween time, and I went to my first costume party yesterday. My mom tried to dress me up in this goofy looking pumpkin outfit, but there was no way that I was going to wear that!! So I went in my Carhart overalls, and had a blast with all the other kids. I got to decorate a cookie with icing and sprinkles, then I made a mess of my face eating the icing and sprinkles OFF the cookie. Of course, I then ate the cookie.
The rain has finally come after a nice long and warm summer. Now that the rain has started, my dad has started digging up some things from our back yard. Up until now, the ground has been too hard. I tried to help him with my shovel, but my shovel was too small, so I just played with my trucks. One of my favorite things to do is play outside.

Grandma Moniz was here this weekend. It is always great when there is someone visiting and they spend all their time playing with me (and my brother too). The only scary part was when I woke up from my nap on Saturday. My mom and dad were gone and this "strange lady" (Grandma) was there instead. It had been a while since I had seen her last, but everything was OK as soon as she gave me my milk and we sat on the rocking chair in front of the window to watch cars and trucks go by. When Mom and Dad finally came home, Grandma and I were sitting on the couch reading a new book that she brought with her. The first thing out of my mouth when my mom and dad came in was "who's this?" as I pointed to Grandma. They just laughed and thought that was so funny.
We went to the zoo on Monday; this was my very first zoo trip. I saw lots of monkeys but they weren't doing anything but sleeping, I guess it was a bit warm for them. I saw a really big giraffe, and a bunch of zebras. I also saw a talking parrot, but I am not sure what was more entertaining, the parrot or the 4 kids yelling at the parrot to get it to talk.

This weekend we went to Seattle. I had lots of fun on the plane playing with my new Magna Doodle and coloring with daddy. We slept at Grandma and Grandpa Stubbs' house, and I got to chase Kitty all over the house.

August 10, 2000
Yesterday was my birthday; I am now 2 years old. Just so you know, they are not the terrible two's, but rather the terrific two's!! Mom, dad, and I had cake and ice cream, and Matthew slept, so he didn't get any. It took me a while to figure out how to blow out the candle. Dad blew it out on accident twice, and had to re-light it so I could do it. The light on the candle sure was pretty too. (My mom says it was hot, but I didn't touch it to find out.) Since this was my first cake and ice cream, it took me a while to figure out how to eat it. I had a hard time getting the ice cream with my spoon because I just kept stabbing it. Soon mom showed me how to "scoop" my ice cream, and then I had no problem getting it to my mouth. Yummy, I sure like ice cream. Even after it was all melted on my plate, I kept at it--I wasn't going to miss any of it. I didn't care much for the cake, especially when I could eat the ice cream instead, but I sure liked picking off the round sprinkles on the icing. They were all different colors.
I would still be at the table picking at my plate if Mom and Dad didn't distract me by pointing to the boxes of presents of the floor. OK, ice cream wasn't that cool. I got a lot of really cool things, like books, puzzles, a truck, counting blocks, and a bunch of cloths. The funniest part was unwrapping them and throwing all the paper on the floor. But I know what garbage is, and I helped throw it all away in the garbage can.

I am almost 2 years old and proud of it. I like to bounce like Tigger, and jump on my parent's bed. I like jamming to music and can dance with the best of them. I am learning how to put together puzzles, and enjoy coloring with my crayons on paper (most of the time) and with pens, but my mom won't let me color with pens very much, since I like to write on my hands and feet. I think she is also happy that I don't write on the walls. I play in my pool outside a lot, and like digging in the dirt. But most of all, I like playing with my dad, he is so much fun to run around the house with, and wrestle with on the floor.
I am talking quite a bit now, but sometimes my mom and dad don't know what I am saying. So usually I just grab their hand, and show them what I am trying to tell them; usually I just want to watch a movie, or get something in the kitchen to eat. My favorite foods right now are oranges, watermelon, Top Roman noodles, and popcorn. I don't know what candy or chocolate is yet, but I am sure I would like it if my parents would give me some. I have tried ice cream, but it is too cold for me. I will usually try just about anything that my mom and dad are eating.
