The Calaveras Celtic Faire was hosted in grand fashion by
the Sanguine Rose crew. The tournament was a double elimination and contestants were matched up by the luck of the draw. Marshal and master of ceremonies was Nynus, who gave an excellent performance in introducing each duelist to the audience and a play by play of the action. Winner of the tournament was Maestro Lyngus of the Sanguine Rose, second went to Maestro Palantine of the Fuzzy Rose and third went to Ryan MacFergus of the Emerald Rose. While trying to think of a commentary for the Faire I saw the email from Gary and thought he said it best.... 'Special thanks to our "squatters" -you know who you are >;) - that secured for us a strategic site atop a hill ideal for our fencers. Sanguine's pavilion was a prodigious sight where all seemed to be lured as the night played on, finding us in their hospitality. More special thanks to Dave and Corey for the tobacco box that runneth over with fine flavors from all parts of the globe and the ever-flowing taps of Bass and Guinness (not only for the smoke and beer...those two have always had a "whatever we can do to make you comfortable and happy" manner towards all invited to their gatherings-a special couple indeed, to Nynus for just about single-handedly running an entire 2 day tournament without err (save for charging me with taking on the task of list-mister for the semi finals and finals! HEY-everyone got to where they were supposed to be..... Eventually), to Carolyn and Luke for entertaining our guests with your "It is my intent..." routine...you had us all rolling- a much needed flavor for our public displays, to Sean and Llanae for the drumming that lead actors and performers alike to the eric for evenings of drink, dance, singing, fire juggling, and flogger demonstrations, and although most "bussed" themselves, a thanks to whoever seemed to do the cleaning-never saw em-everything just got "taken care of" somehow- ghosts in our presence that made sure everything remained suitable for ourselves and for the visitors we had throughout the day.' |
